Lexus Teams up with Luc Besson for the Car of the 28th Century
January 13th, 2017

So I’m here in Miami for a media trip with the folks from Lexus to drive fancy sports cars, among many other awesome adventures. Not only did they surprise us with a cool concept yacht, they pulled the covers off of an incredible futuristic vehicle designed to give us a glimpse at what their vehicles might look like 700 years in the future. What you’re looking at here is the Lexus SKYJET, a flying car they designed for the movie Valerian and the The City of a Thousand Planets.
The company worked closely with director Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Lucy, Leon the Professional) to create a vehicle that combines his unique visual perspective with that of Lexus, and I think the end result is pretty fantastic.
Apparently, the rider sits forward, leaning towards the handlebars inside the single-passenger SKYJET, much like riding a motorcycle – or a speeder bike.
While we don’t have flying cars quite yet, I’m holding out hope that we won’t have to wait 700 years to get them.
Kudos to Lexus for thinking outside of the box with this neat sci-fi ship design. It was so cool to see it up close and personal.
