Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer Reboots the Mission Once AgainDecember 11th, 2016
Personally, I thought the best Spider-Man movie by far was Spider-Man 2, with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, and Alfred Molina as an awesome Doc Ock. It doesn’t hurt that comic book and horror master Sam Raimi was behind the lens for that one too. I gave the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man flicks a shot, but frankly he never felt right for the part, and the movies just seemed like a bunch of visual noise to me. So consider me cynical about the idea of yet another Spider-Man reboot, especially with a relatively inexperienced director running the show. Jon Watts is the man behind such films as Cop Car and Clown, films with an average audience score less than 52% and 39% on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. Meh.
But here we are, with the very youthful Tom Holland donning the red and blue costume and slinging the webs this time. I have to say that he did give me some good chuckles during his brief appearance as Spidey in Captain America: Civil War, something sorely lacking from Garfield’s version of the character. That all said, we now have the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, yet another origin story of sorts, which reminds us that Spidey really is a teenager, that Tony Stark should really be named Tony Snark, and features Tom Holland crawling around on his ceiling like Spider-Pig.
But what really gets me most excited about Homecoming is the brief appearance of Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes / The Vulture. So, are you guys excited for another Spidey reboot, or are you ready for Marvel to put the webslinger on the shelf for a while?
