Doctor Who Getting a New Doctor and New Companion in 2018
November 18th, 2016

Let me start off by saying that I am really sick of this “three years per Doctor and done” business. Give one of them some time to grow into the role and truly flourish. Sadly, Capaldi will have no chance to actually shine under a showrunner who actually knows what he is doing. That’s a shame. Anyway, according to the Mirror, BBC bosses want to have a “clean slate” for Doctor Who, and to go back to a formula they feel works. That I can’t blame them for, because Steven Moffat’s Doctor Who is generally really bad, IMHO.
In 2018, Chris Chibnall will take over as showrunner, replacing Moffat. They are apparently also citing poor merchandize sales, which, is a really bad reason if you ask me. A movie series or TV series should never get “Star Wars Syndrome” and make on-screen choices because of toy sales. Anyway, that’s where we are apparently.
So we will be getting a new Doctor far too soon and a new companion. At least we will get a full season with Capaldi next year. Jesus, if the Beeb would just deliver actual full seasons and quality stories, maybe they could sell some toys.
