Star Wars Short Film Jakku: First Wave

by Conner Flynn

For most of Star Wars‘ existence, the Stormtroopers have been nothing but faceless cannon fodder. The Force Awakens gave Stormtroopers a face and made them human through Finn. There have also been a few recent fan films that take a closer look at the lives of these soldiers. The latest to catch our eye is Jakku: First Wave. This short was written and directed by Benjamin Eck and it focuses on three Stormtroopers just before the Battle of Jakku.

It’s a bit heavy-handed with what it is trying to do, but it is interesting to see life from their perspective immediately before a battle.
