Star Trek: Discovery Delayed Until May 2017
September 16th, 2016

This is bad news for fans who have been counting the days until Star Trek: Discovery launches, but it isn’t really a surprise. We are four months before its original January premiere date, and we still haven’t heard of anyone being cast for this show yet, or any photos from the set. Frankly I found that very odd, but it’s all good.
Discovery will now have four to five extra months to get ready for launch, which means there is really no excuse if the show turns out to be garbage. They do have a good amount of extra time now to fine tune things. I’m really hoping we get an edgier Star Trek that takes cues from TOS. Maybe they need some extra time to redesign that ship that fans aren’t very happy about.
Another interesting tidbit from the announcement is that in addition to CBS All Access, the premiere episode will be on the CBS broadcast television network, and will also be distributed on Netflix in 188 countries, and Bell Media in Canada. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like the Netflix deal will include US distribution.
