H. R. Giger’s Beautiful Monster

by Conner Flynn

Kristian Williams‘ latest video essay takes a look at how H. R. Giger created the terrifying Xenomorph for Ridley Scott‘s 1979 sci-fi horror classic, Alien. I think for many of us, this film showed us that there can be a beauty in horror, and also introduced us to the amazing creative mind that was H.R. Giger.

Ridley Scott was so impressed with Giger’s work, he insisted on keeping the Xenomorph just as how Giger had painted it. Not only that, but Giger was soon in charge of designing everything that had to do with the planet LB426.

If you have six minutes to spare, this is a fascinating look at Giger’s work. If you like Kristian’s work, please show your support over on Patreon.
