Why Marvel Movies Have No Memorable Music

by Conner Flynn

We all know the theme from Star Wars. I bet everyone reading this knows the James Bond theme as well, not to mention the music from many individual Bond films. But can you remember any theme music from a Marvel film? Yeah, me either.

With over a dozen blockbuster films and 10 billion dollars at the box office, you would think that these movies would have some memorable music, right? Nope. The Marvel Cinematic Universe lacks any distinctive musical identity or approach. But why? It’s weird right? Tony Zhou’s latest video tries to answer the question. What are they doing wrong? It turns out that the problem isn’t necessarily unique to Marvel, and is a growing problem with the way movie music is made today. It’s a fascinating watch, and well worth your time.
