Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer Breaks Cover

If the latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is anything to go by, I’m ready to get as excited about this spin-off flick as the main Star Wars saga. After all, this movie will help fill in key plot points which led up to Princess Leia getting her hands on the Death Star plans in Episode IV.

The trailer gives us a look at an unlikely group of rebel recruits who defy insurmountable odds to pull one over on The Empire, and it’s loaded with everything we love about Star Wars. Stormtroopers, X-Wings, Imperial Destroyers, TIE fighters, AT-ATs, blaster battles, opinionated droids, and someone we haven’t had in a Star Wars movie in a long time – the one and only Darth Vader.

In all honesty, I’ve been a little concerned about director Gareth Edwards being at the helm of this movie, given the relative lack of action and slow pacing in his prior films (Monsters, Godzilla (2014)), but this trailer gives me great hope that Rogue One will be packed with the sort of action, tension, and drama we’ve come to expect from the best Star Wars movies.
