Silent Running Recreated In LEGO
August 2nd, 2016

Silent Running is a classic sci-fi movie. It’s not an action packed blockbuster, but it did have a great story and some really cool visual effects for the time. In fact, visual effects pioneer Douglas Trumbull directed this 1972 movie. That was before he went on to do visual effects for movies like Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Check out this LEGO version of the film’s iconic Valley Forge spaceship by artist Louie Tommo. It looks pretty sweet and very accurate. He also created LEGO versions of astronaut Freeman Lowell and his robot companions Huey, Louie and Dewey.
I love that old classics like this are still being honored in such a way. These cool creations make me want to see the movie again. It’s been a while.
