Propel Star Wars Battle Quads Quadcopters
July 23rd, 2016There are already a couple of officially licensed Star Wars quadcopters, but RC toy maker Propel hopes to one-up the competition with a high end line that go the extra mile for both collectors and quadcopter enthusiasts.
Unveiled at Star Wars Celebration 2016, Propel’s Star Wars Battle Quads are based on theĀ 74-Z speeder bike, the Millennium Falcon, the T-65 X-Wing and the TIE Advanced X1. Each toy is hand-painted and comes with a cool transparent display case. Further, the company deliberately put the propellers on the underside of the quadcopters to better preserve the looks of the vehicles.
For folks who want to actually fly the toys, Propel added lasers to each quadcopter. If you have two or more Battle Quads, you can engage in a game where three hits with a laser will cause the quadcopter to slowly spiral and land on the ground. It sounds exciting, but I can’t help but be scared of the potential of the lasers accidentally hitting someone’s eyes.
You can already reserve numbered editions of theĀ Battle Quads at no price. Propel is aiming for a September release date but hasn’t mentioned prices yet. The Verge says rumors point to a $300 to $400 (USD) range.
