Superman Fights Doomsday with a Snickers Bar

Comic books have a history of offering up some unusual advertising. It’s not all just Hostess Fruit Pies, Nintendo games and Twinkies. Those ads were pretty obvious back in the day, but this recent Snickers ad was nicely integrated into the comic. And in my mind, that is what makes it effective advertising, although confusing for the reader.

While reading a comic where Superman battles with Doomsday, Twitter user Dave Howlett turned the page and suddenly the action took a weird turn. Batman was suddenly offering Doomsday a Snickers bar. I think that it’s pretty clever and funny. I’m sure some readers were pissed though. Nice one Snickers and DC. That gave me a good laugh.
