The History of Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel

by Lambert Varias

For its latest History of episode, Variant Comics runs through the landmarks of Carol Danvers’ superhero career, leading up to her taking on the name Captain Marvel. That includes addressing DC’s own Captain Marvel, the infamous Avengers #200 and Carol’s previous alter egos.

Her list of powers makes me both want – and dread – to see a Captain Marvel movie; she’s so strong that it’ll be hard to make her coexist with the rest of the MCU. Hawkeye and Black Widow are already out of their league as it is. But the MCU also badly needs a female lead, and who better to play that role than the character who bears the name of the House of Ideas itself?
