HE-MAN x Star Wars Action Figures
June 27th, 2016

Everything has to be combined with Star Wars at some point. Here’s an excellent example of just that, as the He-Man and Star Wars universes collide. This set of heroes and villains by Jamie Follis aka Sillof all look awesome. Everyone in the Star Wars universe now has muscles that would make Arnold Schwarzenegger envious. Even the droids look pretty interesting.
Here’s what the artist has to say about these cool customs:
Most boys who grew up in the ’80s had certain staple toy lines they played with, among them were Star Wars and He-Man. What they may have not understand was how much the latter owed the the former. As a kid we just enjoyed these diverse worlds populated with great characters. Most kids, myself included, did not realize at that time that the Masters of the Universe was essentially a mash up of Conan the Barbarian and Star Wars with some of the style of Frank Frazetta and elements of Flash Gordon (of course Star Wars already owed much to that universe as seen here.)
This line is intended as a commentary on the similarities of both toy universes. This is not a mash up or intended be “Look at this character dressed as that character”. Rather, it imagines a world in which the similarities are extended to place the Star Wars archetypes inside the Masters of the Universe world. As a further challenged I tried to use parts exclusive to the MOTUC figures with little additional sculpting or parts from other lines. This was the line I was working on and building in the Lucasfilm approved documentary I was featured in entitled “In a Galaxy” (more about that here.) So without further ado…
