Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey in the Style of Picasso

by Conner Flynn

Fans of 2001: A Space Odyssey are going to love this. The movie was already beautiful, but these scenes look even more lovely now that they have been stylized to look like the work of Picasso. Photographer Bhautik Joshi has created 2001: A Picasso Odyssey a beautiful collection of scenes from Kubrick’s sci-fi classic.

They were created using “Deep Neural Networks based style transfer.” I’m not sure what that means, but if Picasso made sci-fi movies, this would be the result. It’s actually a shame that Picasso didn’t make movies, because now we have an idea of how great they would have looked. Picasso’s art style comes to life in a whole new way.
