Star Trek: Beyond Trailer Goes Back to Basics
May 21st, 2016A lot of folks were annoyed at the lighthearted action flick vibe of the first Star Trek: Beyond trailer. Even cast member and co-writer Simon Pegg went on record about disliking the trailer, saying it was misleading and was more of a marketing gimmick. It’s no surprise that this second trailer is practically a reboot that checks the requisite trailerisms. Gone are the Beastie Boys in favor of your staple ominous classical music, simmering behind vague quotes like “You spent all this time trying to be your father. Now you’re wondering just what it means to be you.”
Make no mistake, the trailer still presents an action-packed movie where the Enterprise gets destroyed (again) and the crew are taken hostage (again), only in a more serious and familiar presentation. And – drum roll please – the reaction to it has been mostly positive. Thumbs ups raining down.
