Building a Replica of Rey’s Blaster from The Force Awakens

by Conner Flynn

On the latest episode of Tested’s Show and Tell, prop maker Bill Doran shares a replica he designed of Rey’s blaster from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He designed the blaster to be assembled as a kit, so they put it together to see how it all works.

The initial design was 3D printed, sanded and primed, then used to create a mold. The kits pieces were then cast from urethane resin. It looks likeĀ a pretty straightforward build, so it seems like a good kit. I have to say every detail looks pretty awesome, but this blaster does not look very comfortable in the hand; not very ergonomic. I’d like to see them give it a paint job too

You can get blueprints for this build here if you want to try it for yourself.
