Hot Toys Civil War Capt. America Battling Version Action Figure
April 16th, 2016

Cue the record scratch. Hot Toys surprised collectors in a bad way by announcing a separate version of the Civil War Captain America sixth scale figure. Compared to the vanilla figure, the Battling Version has, well, dirt on Cap’s costume and that scratched shield that was shown earlier in the sixth scale Black Panther beauty shots. It also has a different diorama base, which as Joshua Geier pointed out on Facebook appears to be a recolored version of the base that came with Hot Toys’ Protect Gear figure. Also, this figure doesn’t come with the alternate angry lower face that’s in the clean variant, which just reeks of greed in my opinion.
Hot Toys says the Battling Version will be available only in selected markets, and sure, there could be enough differences between the two figures to warrant a separate release. But I think Hot Toys should have announced both variants at the same time to give collectors a choice. You can pre-order the figure from Sideshow Collectibles for $225 (USD).
