Boston Dynamics Shows Off Its Latest Atlas Bipedal Robot

by Lambert Varias

The Google-owned robotics company Boston Dynamics recently showed off the latest version of its all terrain walking robot, Atlas. It’s main purpose is “mobile manipulation”, i.e. picking stuff up and interacting with human-centric structures such as doors. Like the company’s famous Big Dog robots, Atlas’ defining feature is its human-like ability to navigate rough terrain, detect and avoid obstacles, and recover from a fall. The video’s description has a few more facts about the robot.

Hockey stick guy will be one of the first to go.
