LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Teaser

by Lambert Varias

This summer, LEGO and Disney XD will be releasing a TV series set in the Star Wars universe, that takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Called LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, the show is about the titular Freemakers, a family of space scavengers. They gather debris from space battles and use them to create new ships to sell.

It’s clearly aimed at children and has a very humorous tone, so I doubt that the show is canon. That said, its initial plot revolves around something that should be interesting to both young and old Star Wars fans. It’s about a new, or rather a very old kind of saber called a Kyber Saber. While lightsabers use a small chunk of the crystal to create their iconic plasma blade, the Kyber Saber’s blade is made of the crystal itself.

But the Jedi Master who made it realized that his creation is too powerful, so he broke the blade into many pieces and scattered it across the galaxy. Naturally, Darth Vader and the Empire want to get their hands on the saber, but it appears that the Freemakers will accidentally obtain one of the pieces.

Of course, this is the tried and tested Hasbro tactic, and LEGO has already unveiled a couple of sets based on the series. FamilyGamerTV checked out the sets at the New York Toy Fair:
