The Real Darth Vader Melted Helmet from Return of the Jedi
January 25th, 2016

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren talks to the mask of Darth Vader, his grandfather. However this is not the actual helmet that burned in the funeral pyre during Return of the Jedi. If only it looked that good. Actor David Prowse, who wore the helmet in Star Wars IV-VI, recently posted a picture to Facebook of the actual melted helmet.
This helmet is in two pieces: a face covering and a head covering. Some of the fiberglass is frayed from being burned. Kylo’s version is in one piece, made to more closely resemble the Vader we know so we can have the feels.
Apparently Kylo got ripped off and bought a bad replica. It happens. In all seriousness, they couldn’t use this authentic helmet for The Force Awakens, but it is fun to see what the actual helmet looks like.
