Ridley Scott May Direct The Prisoner Film AdaptationJanuary 11th, 2016
I know that most of us just want Ridley Scott to forget about everything else and do Alien: Covenant and the Blade Runner sequel, but now he may be adding another sci-fi project to his list of assignments.
Deadline is reporting that Scott is in early talks to direct a feature-film adaptation of the cult-hit 1968 TV series The Prisoner. Universal has been trying to get this made for years, but it hasn’t happened yet. Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento) almost got attached to this film back in 2009, but it wasn’t meant to be. If you have not seen the original, the story follows a prisoner, held captive in a mysterious seaside village after resigning his job as a spy. He is trying to escape, and they want the knowledge in his head.
This story is even more relevant to today’s world given the ideas that it tackled way back when. This would be great in Scott’s hands. The remake miniseries from AMC in 2009? Not so good. I kinds hope Scott gets this, even though I want his other projects to come first.
