Cantina Band Played on Bottles Is Perfect

by Paul Strauss

While most people remember the music of Star Wars for John Williams’ sweeping and emotional score, but he also wrote a little ditty known as Cantina Band. That’s the quirky, Caribbean/Benny Goodman sounding tune originally played by Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. Actually, it’s really known as Mad About Me on Mos Eisley, but here on Earth, we call it Cantina Band.

Denmark’s The Bottle Boys figured out that the song is a perfect fit with their musical instrument of choice – packs of glass bottles. The sound is a bit like a riverboat calliope, so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Cantina Band played along the Mississippi River in New Orleans someday.
