Giant Star Wars Helmets Land in Madrid

by Lambert Varias

Lucasfilm recently commissioned a one-of-a-kind citywide exhibit in Madrid to promote The Force Awakens. Entitled Face the Force, the exhibit features 9ft. tall replicas of Star Wars characters’ helmets displayed separately in some of the Spanish capital’s most popular destinations.

Four of the featured characters are from the original trilogy: Darth Vader, a stormtrooper, an Imperial TIE pilot and a Rebel pilot. The other half are from the new movie: Captain Phasma, a First Order stormtrooper, a First Order flametrooper and a Resistance pilot. The helmets will be on display until 11/30.

Vidilla’s video above shows the eight helmets in their respective spots, while El Grillo Amarillo’s video below shows a bit of how the sculptures were made. The Spanish lifestyle site says the helmets were milled out of polyethylene plastic and then coated with fiberglass and polyester resin before being polished and painted. Watch it to catch a rare sight of Bald Vader.
