Custom R2-D2 Hi-Mock Gunpla

Bandai’s HGBF 1/144 Hi-Mock (a gunpla of a training bot in the anime Gundam Build Fighters Try) has become an instant classic among modders because it’s cheap and simple, making it suited for both newbies and vets looking to experiment. Here’s one such mod based on the kit. Modder Lemcat calls his creation Hi2-D2.
I’m working off of Google Translate here, but it appears Lemcat modded the kit’s head, did a bit of engraving and panelling, added a few wires, and of course repainted and finished the kit. But that’s not all; he also made replicas of Artoo’s tools from scratch.
Lemcat knows that his mod is far from perfect – for instance, the paint on the head is a mess – but time wasn’t on his side because he made it for a competition. Still, I think it looks great, and he can always work on it later. Check out his blog for more on the mod.
