World’s Largest Cargo Ship Plays the Star Wars Theme

by Conner Flynn

When you christen a ship, you need to do more than just break a champagne bottle against its hull. The MSC Zoe did things right. Check out this video of the ship playing the Star Wars theme song before being christened at the port in Hamburg, Germany.

Now that is how you christen a ship so that people never forget. It probably brought a bit of good luck to the old girl too. And you know how superstitious sailor types are. The theme song does sound weird coming from cargo ship horns though.

This ship is 1,297 feet long and can carry 398,544,000 pounds of cargo. To put that in perspective, that’s about 19,224 20-foot containers. Yeah, she may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts.
