Key & Peele Explain Gremlins 2

Gremlins was one of my favorite films of the 1980s, so when they announced that a sequel was in the works, I was pretty excited. This was back in the day when sequels were often as good or better than the original, and not the assembly line CGI crap Hollywood churns out today.

Sadly, things didn’t go well, and Gremlins 2 was a box office disappointment. It had little of the charm and wit of the original, and seemed like a pile of random stuff splashed up on the screen. Sure, there was some good social satire, but it’s like somebody at the studio said “we just need more of everything, especially Gremlins.” In this hilarious video from Key & Peele, we see exactly what went down in one of the brainstorming sessions before Gremlins 2 was made. Note that there’s a little PG-13 language in the video.
