We never got an 8th season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Some would say that’s a good thing. Other’s wish we had that extra season to watch and enjoy. Me? I thank God it ended when it did. Author and @TNG_S8 creator¬†Mike McMahan and illustrator Jason Ho show us what could have been in the book¬†Warped: An Engaging Guide to the Never-Aired 8th Season, which is due out in October. The book includes “Real” TNG Season 8 facts, stories, dialogue and images.

Sadly, I think they are dead wrong about what kinds of stories we would have been witness to:

  • The Enterprise plunges saucer first into a temporal wave, turning everyone into babies. Will they turn back into adults by episode end? Yes.
  • A subspace rumple disables the Enterprise and blinds the crew. Data & Geordi’s plan to build the perfect girlfriend backfires explosively.
  • Roman centurions force Riker to fight a gorilla. There’s no room for a side story here: the main plot is too epic. Also: it’s a 3-parter.
  • Riker cautiously dates a sexy, sentient bomb. Picard drinks water wrong, awkwardly coughs for ten minutes in front of an angry Romulan.

That season would have been sweet!
