Stan Lee Gets the LEGO Treatment

One of the coolest things LEGO does is its LEGO Ideas program, which started in 2008. It allows fans to submit their brilliant brick designs, and the ones that receive at least 10,000 votes get considered by the company to be made into actual retail sets. And if you’re chosen, you get a small percentage of the sales!

It’s a great site to check out regularly because you never know what you’ll find. The last time I looked I saw an amazing design that I was really surprised had not already been produced by the company – a bust of Marvel Comics’ legend and all-around real-life superhero Stan Lee.

The mustachioed, bespectacled bust was made using 649 bricks by LEGO fan Johnathan1986, and I have to say it’s a pretty damn good likeness given the obvious limitations of creating a human face using little plastic bricks. The bust has more than 350 days left to get the 10,000 votes it needs, and my bet is that it’s going to bust that mark in no time and will be on the market soon.
