MB&F Music Box Inspired by Star Wars’ TIE Fighter
July 14th, 2015MB&F is known for its elaborate and unorthodox timepieces. Its MusicMachine music boxes – created with the help of Reuge – are no different. These limited edition devices are all designed to look like fictional spacecraft. MusicMachine 1 is similar to the X-Wing while MusicMachine 2 looks like Star Trek‘s Enterprise. The new MusicMachine 3 on the other hand is shaped like the TIE fighter, with the vertical wings serving to support and protect the two cylinders. Like its predecessors, MusicMachine 3 is two music boxes in one, with each cylinder containing three 35-second arrangements each.
MusicMachine 3’s tunes are excerpts from ’60s and ’70s movie and TV show theme songs. The right cylinder plays the parts of the Star Wars, Mission Impossible, and James Bond themes, while the left cylinder plays The Godfather, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, and The Persuaders themes. You can listen to the MusicMachine 3 on MB&F’s website.
Aside from the wings, the MusicMachine 3’s other functional parts have also been incorporated into the TIE Fighter’s design, such as the two winding keys that were made to look like spacecraft thrusters.
The MusicMachine 3 is limited to just 99 units: 33 chrome, 33 white and 33 black. That’s just as well, because you’ll need more than the Force to acquire one. MB&F is selling it for ~$20,000 (USD) each.
