Derelict: Prometheus and Alien Combined into New Movie

by Conner Flynn

When Prometheus came out a lot of people weren’t impressed. I thought it was an excellent prequel. Officially it is and it isn’t a prequel to Alien, but I felt it worked great. Others felt let down. Maybe this will soothe some of those disappointed fans.

Editor Job Willins edited both movies together. It is called Derelict and it’s a two-and-a-half-hour mashup. The end resultĀ is pretty amazing.

“Prometheus wasn’t exactly an Alien prequel, but this treats it as such by intercutting the events of Alien with Prometheus in a dual narrative structure,” Willins wrote. “The goal was to assemble the material to emphasize the strengths of Prometheus as well as its ties to Alien.”

It really feels more like a classic horror movie since it is in black and white and that ups the creepy atmosphere. This one is worth a watch if you have the time.

UPDATE: The video has been removed, presumably because the studio didn’t care for so much of its footage being used without rights. That’s too bad, since this was a really great work of fan fiction.
