Mad Max: Fury Road ’80s Style Trailer

The Mad Max saga dates back to the late 1970s and 1980s, so it’s only appropriate that Mad Max: Fury Road should get a 1980s style tribute, don’t you think? Erick Solis and Ricardo Trevino of Playback Collective edited together this fun remix of the Fury Road trailer, cut with old-school film grain and blown-out colors.

But what makes the trailer work so well is the audio – a track called Vengeance by a chiptune band known as Power Glove. Sure, the end result might be more like Kung Fury than Fury Road, but I kind of like the name Kung Fury Road anyhow.

And yes, I grew up in the ’80s, and I know that trailers weren’t really like this, but it’s still fun. Here’s the original trailers for Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1981) and Beyond Thunderdome (1985) to give you some perspective – and way too much plot exposition:
