Cut Scene: Amazing Papercraft Star Wars DioramasMay 15th, 2015
Check out these incredible 3D paper Star Wars models by artist Marc Hagan-Guirey (aka Paper Dandy). He used a fine scalpel to cut each model out from a single sheet of A4 paper, creating Kirigami versions of iconic scenes from the Star Wars saga. Each is made just that much more dramatic through the use of backlighting.
Since the works aren’t officially licensed, and therefore qualify as “fan art,” they can’t be sold, and therefore art galleries won’t show them because there’s no money to be made. But with your contribution to Marc’s Kickstarter campaign, you can help him get his work shown in a central London gallery.
Rewards for contributors include hi-res digital downloads of the scenes, signed and numbered prints, a photo book, and if you pony up about $2,400, you’ll receive one of the original models (though wouldn’t that be considered selling them?)
Art this good deserves to be supported. I already made my contribution, and you should too.
