The Man of Steel in Full Color

by Conner Flynn

One of the things that made Christopher Reeve’s Superman so amazing was the bright vivid colors of the movie. Superman’s red and blue was amazing and it felt like a comic book come to life. Zack Snyder’s 2013 movie Man of Steel was dark and the color was desaturated, which gave the movie a steel gray look. Well, VideoLab has fixed the problem and restored the color – at least for a few short moments of the film.

They increased the saturation and overall vibrancy, revealing an approximation of the movie’s original color prior to post-production. Then they compare before and after shots in a split screen. The results are pretty amazing and while the new costume is not as true blue/red as Reeve’s, adding color really makes this recent movie feel more like the Superman we know and love.
