The Soothing Sounds of Darth Vader

Darth Vader’s signature deep, labored breathing is one of true most menacing sounds in the history of cinema. Turns out, it’s also a great way to get your baby to stop squealing.

In this hilarious, and mildly disturbing, YouTube video, a newly minted poppa is cradling his infant daughter in his lap. As she squirms and cries, he begins a fairly decent approximation of Luke’s father’s intimidating deep breathing. Almost immediately, his baby girl gets quiet and a peaceful calm seems to wash over her (even the corgi laying in the background is quiet).

At the very end of the quick 42-second clip, dad chuckles, turns to the camera and says…. Actually, it’s probably not what you’d expect him to say, so I won’t spoil the surprise. Let’s just say dad probably has a lot of heavy metal on his iPod.
