Trailer for NYC’s H.R. Giger Film Festival

by Conner Flynn

H.R. Giger is no longer with us, but he has left a visual legacy that will live forever. From the set design in Ridley Scott’s Alien to his countless nightmare-inducing paintings, he has left his imprint firmly behind to fascinate and inspire.

To honor Giger’s life and the legacy that he has left us with, the Museum of Art & Design in New York City will be hosting the H.R. Giger Film Festival from May 22-23, 2015. You can expect an amazing showcase of rare, never-before-seen documentaries and experimental short films that are all focused on the world of H.R. Giger.

The event is part of the ongoing MAD cinema series, and will include a 45-minute art-house sci-fi film titled Swissmade, from 1969. This title is also notable as it features Giger’s first use of a prosthetic costume in film. It sounds like a great time to me. I wish I could be in NYC for it.
