The Leviathan (Teaser)

by Paul Strauss

Director Ruairi Robinson created Blinky, one of my favorite short sci-fi films in recent memory. So when I saw that he had published a teaser for a new science fiction film, I was excited. The Leviathan is a concept pitch for a film about a world in which we’ve finally achieved faster-than-lightspeed travel – but at one major expense. Mankind must harvest the fuel required for transportation from the eggs of some really nasty looking giant flying sandworms. Oh, did I mention they have big pointy teeth?

In addition to Robinson, Fight Club screenwriter Jim Uhls is along for the ride, though there’s no dialogue in the teaser, so I imagine he played more of a role in the story at this point. While this short tease is only about three minutes long, it definitely shows off Ruairi’s vision, and is packed with awesome VFX and action scenes. Trust me when I say that you’ll want to see more by the time you’re done watching.
