Contra Wars

Star Wars is a movie classic, and Contra is an arcade classic. Put them together like chocolate and peanut butter, and you get a delicious treat. That’s what NicksplosionFX did in this clever video which demonstrates the gameplay from Contra Wars.

Instead of guns-a-blazing, Luke rips his way through levels, chopping down the Empire with his trusty lightsaber. The idea of Contra as a melee combat game is actually kind of cool, don’t you think? I especially love the part where the Sarlacc eats Boba Fett. Though we know that’s not really what happened.

If only we could convince the lawyers from Lucasfilm, Nintendo and Konami to get in the same room, maybe we could be playing this game for real.
