Canada Is “Spocking Fives” to Honor Leonard Nimoy
March 3rd, 2015

You may or may not be aware of this, but it has been a popular pastime in canada, for years, to make art on their five-dollar bills and transform the former Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier into different characters. This phenomenon is called “Spocking Fives,” and it is now undergoing a resurgence since Leonard Nimoy’s passing last Friday. Canadians can expect to see Spock on their money for quite some time now.
The bills that are the best for “Spocking” are in the process of being replaced by newer, polymer bills which feature a different portrait of Laurier. However you can’t stop the “Spock”. People are doing it on the new bills as well. Nimoy would have certainly gotten a kick out of this. Even if it is illogical.
