James Cameron Checks out Disney’s AVATAR Attraction

by Paul Strauss

I’m not sure how I missed this story, but apparently Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been working on an attraction based on AVATAR. The attraction will offer guests an opportunity to visit the mythical land of Pandora, though without the risk of being eaten by deadly creatures or displaced and killed by a greedy corporation.

In this short video clip, you’ll get a chance to see how things are coming along with the construction of the world of Pandora, as the film’s creator and visionary James Cameron stops by and inspects the work in progress. The most fascinating bits appear to be in the interactive bioluminescent forest. Disney also says you’ll be able to visit floating mountains and see banshees soaring about.

There’s no word yet as to when the attraction will be opening to the public, but I’m assuming it’s one of those “when it’s ready” sort of things that Cameron is usually attached to.
