Dawn of the Planet of the Apes VFX Reel

by Conner Flynn

VFX work today is so seamless and detailed that we never even know for sure if it’s there or not unless we are watching creatures that don’t exist anyway. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes featured some of the most amazing visual effects yet. Now you can check out how they made those monkeys so realistic.

This behind the scenes featurette comes from WETA Digital and it examines all of the CGI work, the stunt players, as well as Andy Serkis’ hard work, that made this movie and it’s effects so real. Without good acting, motion capture CGI is going to be crap and, all of the good acting in the world can’t save bad CGI, so it’s really a perfect balance between the two. This is a fun behind the scenes look.
