Epic Star Wars Snow Sculpture

by Paul Strauss

This incredible work of Star Wars snow art was created by a group of artists in Sapporo’s Odori Park in Hokkaido, Japan as part of the 66th Sapporo Snow Festival. It features larger than life busts of Darth Vader, three stormtroopers, a couple of TIE Fighters, and the Death Star.

The massive sculpture measures over 49 feet tall and 74 feet wide, and took over 700 trucks of snow and a team of 2000 construction workers to create. I’m assuming that they used a clone army to amass such numbers.

Check out a time-lapse video of this incredible build below:

If you’re fortunate enough to be in the area, it will be on display now through February 11 – or until the Rebels melt it with a flamethrower, whichever comes first.
