Alien Chestburster: Art of the Scene

by Paul Strauss

CineFix takes us deep inside the classic chestburster sequence from Ridley Scott’s classic Alien. The short documentary is part of their new series Art of the Scene, which tears apart classic movie scenes, looking at the creative minds, techniques and stories behind them.

Before they get to the bloody bits, they digress into a number of topics about Alien’s design and history. Of particular interest is the exploration of Ron Cobb’s design inspirations fgor the claustrophobic quarters of the Nostromo. And yes, we learn Alien was originally called Starbeast. Thank god they changed that.
