Wanderers

by Paul Strauss

Carl Sagan was a visionary genius. Some of his most famous words come from the audiobook narration The Pale Blue Dot, in which he talks about the history of space exploration, and looks toward the future of humanity. Over the years, many videos have been set to Sagan’s profound thoughts, but none quite so impressive as Wanderers – this short film by Erik Wernquist.

The film prognosticates on mankind’s future as we move beyond the boundaries of the Earth, exploring brave new worlds. While it’s loaded with eye-popping visuals of exotic locales, it’s notable that the places featured are digital approximations of actual places in our Solar System, created using actual photos and map data where available.
