AXN SCI-FI: ’80s Cinema Arcade

The 1980s are associated with some of the best and most entertaining science fiction flicks of all time. In this clever commercial spot for European channel AXN SCI-FI, they pay tribute to the decade by placing iconic movie characters into a side-scrolling arcade game.

The clip, created by Francesco Baiocchi, Miguel Monteagudo and Maurice Humeau includes appearances by Ghostbusters’ Egon Spengler using his proton pack on Slimer, The Neverending Story’s Falcor being hunted by a UFO, and Short Circuit’s Johnny 5 in a race with Celeste from My Stepmother is an Alien. I kid you not.

I’d love to see them expand upon this series, and incorporate more classic ’80s science fiction characters. I vote for T-800, Robocop, the Alien Queen and Mad Max for starters.
