LEGO Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor
November 14th, 2014The last time the Doctor regenerated, he transformed from the young and handsome Matt Smith into the old and curmudgeonly Peter Capaldi. While Matt Smith might have been easier on the eyes, I think Capaldi makes for a much more entertaining Doctor Who. At the end of last year, we saw the demise of the 11th Doctor, as he regenerated into the 12th Doctor. Animator BlobVanDam recreated the pivotal scene from The Time of the Doctor LEGO form as a tribute.
Despite being CGI instead of stop-motion, I think he did a great job embracing the spirit of the scene – all without dialogue. The transformation itself is particularly well done. Here’s the original scene for comparison:
