Doctor Who Game Teaches Basic Programming Skills
October 23rd, 2014

If you want to learn about basic programming concepts, I can’t think of a better teacher than Doctor Who. Yes, soon we can learn and enjoy Doctor Who at the same time thanks to a new game from the BBC and BBC Doctor Who Interactive that will teach kids how to program.
The game is called “The Doctor and the Dalek,” and it features voice narration from Peter Capaldi, and a new story by Phil Ford. This free web game is aimed at 6- to 12-year-olds, but the rest of us can still play it. You can’t stop me!
The story involves freeing a battered Dalek from a ship of Cybermen. Players are then charged with repairing the ship through a series of puzzles based on the programming elements of the new English computing curriculum. This should be fun and educational for all ages.
