The Empire Strikes Back Uncut: Full MovieOctober 11th, 2014
Got two hours to spare? It’s the weekend, so why not? It’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the fan-made, shot-for-shot remake of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The follow-up to Star Wars: Uncut, The Empire Strikes Back Uncut was assembled from over 480 individual fan submitted scenes. The film offers a mix of animation and live action, and does a brilliant job capturing what is arguably the best Star Wars film, but in a whole new light, thanks to its low-budget effects, cheesy costumes, silly performances, and hilarious pop culture references – like the appearance of Indiana Jones in place of Han Solo, and a scene done in the style of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. The space battle played out with spaghetti, meatballs and pizza might be my favorite moment.
What I especially love about this is that unlike some brands which frown on fan films and art, Lucasfilm has endorsed the film, even releasing it on the official Star Wars YouTube page. That’s awesome as far as I’m concerned, and shows real appreciation for their fans.
Trust me when I say this, it’s worth taking the time to watch.
