The Animated Adventures of Doctor Who

by Paul Strauss

Back in 2009, there was an animated Doctor Who special called Dreamland, but we could never get past the awful video game cutscene style animation. If the good Doctor ever has another animated series, we’re hoping that it would would look something like this instead.

Artist and animator Stephen Byrne created this opening title sequence for an imaginary Doctor Who cartoon, and it’s great. For starters, it recaps all of the Doctors to date, then takes us on adventure with the new Doc, Peter Capaldi, and his companion Clara Oswald, as they zip through time and space in their TARDIS.

It’s much more lighthearted and whimsical in its treatment than Dreamland was, and sure looks like a show we’d tune in to watch. Be sure to watch closely for all the little easter eggs and see if you can spot them all.
