If Norman Rockwell Geeked out
August 3rd, 2014

The artwork of Normal Rockwell epitomizes the word “Americana”, so it makes perfect sense that Captain America would appear in one of his classic Saturday Evening Post illustrations. While Rockwell never created such an image, we can thank artist Marco D’Alfonso (aka m7781) for bringing it to fruition.
As part of a series of images he’s showing at Brooklyn’s Bottleneck Gallery’s 8_bit & Beyond 2 exhibit, he’s created a couple of other equally impressive illustrations in the style of the late, great American artist.
The series includes a great tribute to Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 3, as well as an image inspired by Rockwell’s classic, The Tattooist – but instead tattooing yet another girlfriend’s name on a sailor’s arm, he’s inking up Optimus Prime with a fresh flamejob.
Aren’t these illustrations awesome? If you like D’Alfonso’s work as much as we do, then be sure to check out his DeviantArt gallery for more awesome images, or hit up his print shop and own some for your wall.
