Birdman: International Trailer
August 1st, 2014Not to be confused with Hanna-Barbara’s Birdman and the Galaxy Trio or the hilarious Harvey Birdman, this Birdman (aka The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) follows the story of an actor (played by Michael Keaton) best known for playing a superhero, who attempts to reboot his career by mounting a Broadway play.
Along the way, the lines between fantasy and reality are blurred, an effective cinematic technique in the talented hands of director Alejandro González Iñárritu, whose previous films include the excellent 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful. To make things even more interesting, fellow director Jon Favreau says Iñárritu filmed and edited the film in a way that makes it look almost like it was shot in one continuous long take. (Though the edits in the trailer masks any such effect).
The film also stars Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts.
This is definitely one to watch when Oscar time comes around.
